It's a GOLD Medal!

The Special Olympic Basketball Finals were in Grandville this weekend. Danny had the time of his life! He rode up with Coach Cara and Coach Jason at about 1:00 Friday afternoon. Fred and I met up with them at the 5:00 game. The athletes stayed with the team. He roomed with Coach Jason and one of his teammates. He had a blast and they won both of the games they played so they got a gold medal. He is so pumped! He kept repeating on the way home, "I can't believe I have a gold medal!" and "I'm so happy!" When we got home he put on his jacket and came in the house with the medal hiding. "Hey, Wade, Gretchen, Molly, everyone.......are you ready to be impressed?!" He whips open his jacket, "A gold medal!!!"

Here's a video clip. Danny shoots but misses.

Mr. Smiles

We sure are enjoying this little guy. He is such a good and smiley baby. Even when he's fussing about something, he will start to fuss and you look at him, he'll give you a big smile, then go back to his fussing. I need to get a picture of the mom and dad.

Last week Heidi came to Danny's Special Olympics basketball practice with Adrian. One of the girls on his team came up to Heidi. She looked at Heidi, then at Adrian, then back at Heidi and asked, "Are you an adult?" Poor Heidi, she looks so young this girl, who was much taller than Heidi, was trying to figure out why Heidi had a baby!

Uncle Danny

"Heidi, can I hold your baby?" Then, "I'm so bad at holding Adrian." I guess he's a little too squirmy for him. We are enjoying this little visitor.

The House Mouse Leaves the House

The weather was so nice that the house mouse actually went outside to play basketball! But, bummer, he got out there and Dad made him pick up some rocks first. He wasn't happy until he saw the camera. That cheered him up. Then he got some basketball in with Wade who came to ride his dirt bike.

Bonding with Grandpa and Grandma

Kaitlin, Gretchen and Molly spent a week with Grandpa and Grandma in their condo in Alabama. It sure sounds like they had a wonderful time. Lots of laughs. They lucked out and the weather was pretty good so they did come home with a tan. Yesterday, Molly said, "Oh, I miss Grandpa and Grandma!" What a special treat to spend this time alone with their grandparents. They told me that they weren't ready to come home. I told them that grandpa and grandma probably were ready for them to leave. They said no, Grandpa said, "I don't want you girls to leave, now I'll have to do the dishes again." I do think my Mom and Dad did enjoy having them.

Say What?!

I was taking pictures of this homemade bread when:

Jeanie: Who would want to look at pictures of bread?!!!

Me: I'm taking a tip from Sharyn's blog. I'm going to start taking a picture a week of everyday stuff. Since home made bread is a part of our life right now, I'm recording it so that when I'm 50 years old I can look back and remember when I always use to make bread.

Jeanie: ahhhh.......you ARE 50. Or actually 52.

Me: (Looking at Jeanie with genuine surprise....) Oh, yeah, I am........ Well, when I'm 80 I can look back.......

Gee whiz.........I really am 52!?......I sometimes forget.........

March

Definitely still winter here. But the daffodils are coming up so Spring can't be too far away!
