Take Me Out To The Ball Game...........

We took Danny and Jeanie to the Tiger's game yesterday. It was HOT but fun! The kids were so excited! Danny kept exclaiming from the back seat, "I'm so EXCITED!" During the game, they both kept saying, "This is so fun!" Jeanie said it was much funner than watching the game on Dad's computer! They loved the cheering and yelling and joined in whenever they flashed the "Make Noise" sign. The "wave" went around a few times and they really got into that! It was also the big fireworks night. We left before the ninth inning started to beat the crowd as the fireworks were already half way done. We enjoyed them on the walk (jog) to the car and out the back window as we were heading to the freeway. On the way home Danny said it did get a bit annoying. When I asked him, what did. He said, "Those guys yelling, Get your ice cold water! Get your hot dogs! Get your ice cold "beard"! They started to give me a headache!"

Uncle Danny and Auntie Jeanie with Kendall

The other night when Paul and Amanda were still here I was trying to get Danny to bed as it was already 10:30 and he had school the next day. He wouldn't respond to my sending him to bed so I asked Dad to tell him. (Which usually gets better results!)

Dad: Dan, GET TO BED!

Danny: Getting up slowly and starting to mount the stairs mumbles under his breath: "I can do whatever I want."

Dad: Following him half way up the stairs: "What did you say?!"

Danny: "I live in America. I have my rights!"

Dad had to explain that in THIS house you only have Dad's rights!

My New Favorite Bar

I happened to have minature marshmallows AND Rice Krispies so decided to make this bar. I got this recipe from Auntie Mary. Unfortunately, I forgot to put this in the family cookbook. I love it!

Double Chocolate Crumble Bar

½ cup butter
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
¾ cup flour
2 T unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups miniature marshmallows
6 oz. chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter
1 ½ cup Rice Krispies

Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Stir into egg mixture. Spread into bottom of ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Sprinkle marshmallows evenly on top. Bake 3 minutes more. Cool. In small saucepan combine chocolate chips and peanut butter. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in cereal. Spread. Chill.

June 1st

There's still time to order your cookbook. I need all orders by Sunday. You can drop a check in the mail to me or catch me at church on Sunday if you're local. $10 per cookbook.

Actually it's June 2nd. It rained yesterday. Today's assignment is to go take a picture of your home. Years from now you will be glad you did.
We are making a family cookbook and would like to put a picture of the home we were all raised in on the cover. Unfortunately we don't have a real good picture of the original home. Before changes and addition. My oldest brother is a photographer so I know he will do wonders with the picture we do have.
I have thought about taking a picture a month for a year just to see the season changes. I meant to start yesterday the first, but I guess I will do it on the second of the month instead.

Knitting Therapy

I finished Orrin's sweater. It came a little big but hopefully he can still wear it in the fall. The sweater pattern is free from thebrownstitch.com. I used a hat pattern I had for the hat.
