My New Favorite Bar

I happened to have minature marshmallows AND Rice Krispies so decided to make this bar. I got this recipe from Auntie Mary. Unfortunately, I forgot to put this in the family cookbook. I love it!

Double Chocolate Crumble Bar

½ cup butter
¾ cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
¾ cup flour
2 T unsweetened cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon baking powder
¼ teaspoon salt
2 cups miniature marshmallows
6 oz. chocolate chips
1 cup peanut butter
1 ½ cup Rice Krispies

Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir together flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt. Stir into egg mixture. Spread into bottom of ungreased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Sprinkle marshmallows evenly on top. Bake 3 minutes more. Cool. In small saucepan combine chocolate chips and peanut butter. Cook and stir over low heat until chocolate is melted. Stir in cereal. Spread. Chill.

You know what the freaky part is...?

I haven't thought of or heard of these bars in *years*. And earlier I was wishing I could make them.

Crazy.

Those were one of my favorites as a kid.

Any chance you have a picture of them? I'm having a hard time visualizing! I'm going to give them a whirl!

Leanne, envision a moist chocolate cake-type bottom, with a layer of melted marshmallows, covered in a delicious layer of creamy chocolate/peanut buttery Rice Krispies.

They're good!

At least, I loved them as a kid, but I can't make them anymore with the peanut butter.

Word is the makers of the cookbook are still working on the cover design (I saw Sarah today), so send the recipe! :D

Actually, the maker of the cookbook has enouph recipes and is VERY done with them, but you will find this one already in the book, submitted by me, only it's called Deluxe Chocolate Marshmellow Bars and the recipe it a bit larger, big enouph to fit a jelly-roll pan.
