Happy Belated Birthday Kirsten Ailey

Kirsten turned 4 on Friday. Hard to believe she's that big already! Happy Birthday!

Amanda and Paul were here for a quick weekend. I can't believe I didn't take one picture! It was so fun to see them but felt kind of like a teaser as it seemed like they just got here and were gone! This past weekend was "Detroit Weekend" so I didn't see the twins or Brett too much. It sounds like a great time was had by all!

Mastering Sign Language

Heidi took out this book of Sign Language from the library to use with one of her students. Danny found it and has spent hours with it. "I love it!" He says. Too bad he can't remember one sign after he does it! Oh well, at least he's entertaining himself and reading! Although he does get a bit annoying sitting there reading the words he's signing outloud.

Amanda and Paul arrived at about 12:30 last night. Yeah!!! Amanda went for breakfast at 8:00 this morning with Cami and Becky but returned before anyone else was awake in this house!

I did not find a dress the other day shopping. I ended up just looking locally so I guess I have to head out somewhere next week.

Good Ol Summertime!

We have enjoyed several cucumbers from the garden and a few grape tomatoes so far. And best of all, Rocky Ridge Farms have set up their booth with sweet corn. We had some on Saturday and Sunday! It is the best corn ever! You can't have too much of it! A couple more meals with sweet corn and the kids will get burned out but not Dad and I.

The weather has continued to be really mild for July. Today I hope to start tackling the basement. I wish I had a big dumpster! Tomorrow I plan on taking the day and going dress shopping for Brad and Larissa's wedding. I'm not sure where I will head. Maybe toward the city and the bigger malls. Wish me luck!

Heidi's Birthday Cake

We had Heidi's Cheesecake Saturday night.

Don't Try This At Home!

I couldn't watch this craziness! Dad wouldn't let me put a stop to their fun. I saw the videos Gretchen took. I did watch Danny. He jumped and jumped and jumped and jumped and jumped.....then finally stopped, went to the edge and jumped in! Thank goodness they moved the tramp away when they finished their play!! I had to chuckle at Jeanie.....AC came over for sauna and swim. Jeanie asked me, "Does AC play with Wade or Brett?" Another Jeanie story: The kids have been spending too much time on the computer or on the Xbox upstairs so I told them one day, that tomorrow no computer or Xbox. Jeanie came to me the next morning saying, "Mom, Danny's on the Xbox!!!" Then she hollers up to Danny, "Danny, remember no electronics today!! We have to be like when Dad was a kid, except we can use lights!"

A Swing for Three

Our tire swing broke when we had kids over. I think most of the damage was done when we had confirmation kids over the week before. We've had the swing since Jen, Matt, Sara and Emily were little. I guess the handles were starting to weaken. Dad will make another but the kids have been improvising their own swings. Here they tied a long board to fit three. Not to comfortable as they didn't swing too long because their butts got sore!

My walking partner is gone for two weeks. Darn! I was planning on walking by myself at 8:30 this morning but here at 10:52 I have yet to get out there. It's not quite so enjoyable by yourself. It looks like it's going to get warm today as it is already 79 degrees. Maybe I'll just go work out for an hour this afternoon in the pool. Danny and Jeanie would like that.

Birthday Party

Had to post our typical birthday picture. I'm not sure what Brett is doing back there but this is everyone that was here except me and Dad. I asked Larissa what her favorite birthday cake was and she said she had a favorite dessert. I made Raspberry Desssert. I'm not sure if this is the same recipe she likes but it was from the family cookbook and was quite good. I also made a pan of Blueberry Delight as I wasn't sure if everyone liked raspberry.

Happy Birthday Larissa!

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday Dear Larissa!!!! Happy Birthday to you! Imagine.....you are no longer a teenager! Probably a good thing since you will soon be a married lady! Hope you have a great day and we'll see you tonight for supper.

Sunday Company

Josh and Molly.

Hey Amanda, we had company yesterday! Two people called to see if we would be home! Jess and Brent came for a swim. Then Nancy and Donny called right after them to see if we would be home. I got pictures of everyone except Jess and Nancy. They didn't want to be on my blog. It was a beautiful day. A beautiful weekend actually. We had the kyds over Friday and it went well. I did finish my curtains Saturday and they are up.

Where There's a Will, There's a Way

Danny wanted to go for a bike ride and listen to his Harry Potter book on tape. He couldn't find Jeanie's walkman and I wouldn't let him take mine as I am on my way to scrub the kitchen and have a new book on tape I want to listen to. No problem.....he just took his Fisher Price tape recorder and his last year's backpack and he was ready to go! Pajama bottoms and all!

Some of Gretch's Pictures

These girls take more interesting pictures than I do. These are some of Gretchen's confirmation pictures.

There were five relatives with the same last name. From left to right: John (Bruce's), Jim (Mark's), ours, and Davin (Randy's)
She got a picture of the three Marks. From left: Jeff & Debbie's, Roger and Deanna's and Gordie & Barb's
Another beautiful day here. We are having the kyds over tonight and it should be perfect for a bonfire. Dad sprayed last night so there shouldn't be any bugs.

Evening Swim

I tried to take pictures of the kids swimming last night but didn't do so well. I should have had the action mode on so they wouldn't have been so blurry as they were jumping. It's amazing the hours these two spend in the pool. It was very cool last night. So cool that I finally had to quit snapping pictures because I was cold! They don't mind the cold although they said the pool was warm!

Today looks like another cooler day. I love this weather. It is perfect for our morning walk. I think I will go over to Laura's Noisy Needles Knitshop today for Knitting Circle. I haven't been there for a couple months. Seriously, every Thursday morning has had something going on. I haven't picked up my knitting in about two months. I'd rather be reading on these summer days. I just finished listening to Me and Marley by John Grogan. (Thanks Yvonne for the recommendation.) I really, really enjoyed it. I'm not an animal lover and I fell in love with Marley. Any animal lovers out there will absolutely enjoy this book.

We are having the kyds over Friday night. Hopefully it won't rain so they can have a bonfire.

Cousins came over

Karen called to see if I wanted to go to the new water park at Kensington yesterday. I really didn't feel like baking in the 95 degree sun so I told her to bring the kids over for a swim instead. We'll go to the park another day. Karen and I sat on the deck in the shade while the kids swam. Today Lynette is coming over to do our walk in the pool. I had a doctor's appointment at 9:00 this morning and it was too hot by the time I got back. I went for my first ever physical. She did an EKG and my heart looks good. I will be going for a bunch of blood work. I feel great but thought since I'm hitting the big 5-0 I should probably get checked over.

Confirmation Sunday

Hard to believe these "twiners" are confirmed. It was a rather warm day, in the 90's, but not too humid and a breeze. We were just thankful the church has air.

Click on this picture for a closer look if you want to feel "old". Even Heidi Sue couldn't believe what kids are already getting confirmed. Posted by Picasa

Confirmation Kids

I didn't really get any good pictures from yesterday. These are a few Gretchen took. It went well. Maybe a little long for them. I should have had them get picked up at 4 or 5:oo instead of 6:00. I didn't mind but I'm thinking maybe they were getting bored after five hours. I finished the girls dresses last night and we found shoes today. So hopefully we are set for tomorrow.
