Passing Down the Job

Lawn mowing has pretty much been a "boys" job in this family. With five of them, there has always been one around to do the job WHEN Fred doesn't do it. Fred actually enjoys mowing the lawn when he has time. Since Fred was staining the trim and porch posts Saturday, he needed someone to mow. Brett is just getting TOO busy with all his football games to listen or watch so he gave Gretchen a mowing instruction. I think she kind of likes to mow but is a little afraid that she will always HAVE to mow now!

Danny story: He had gone to bed the other night and I heard him in the bathroom running water and moaning and complaining. I hollered up to find out what was going on. He grumbled and groaned, "I have the hicups!" He went back to bed and was moaning some more, then it was quiet, all of a sudden I hear, "Rarrrrrrrrr!!!!" (He was trying to scare himself!) Then he starts whining, "Someone come scare me........" He finally came down saying, "I know....I'll drink a glass of milk (his favorite beverage!) He took a glass of milk and they actually went away. He was grinning as he went back up stairs, "See!!!!! Told you!!!"

I love Danny stories. LOL! (Definitely laughing out loud - I can totally see it all.) :)

I know, me too! You can always picture Dan, and see it all the way! There's only one kid like him!

Gretchy, it's not a bad job to mow the lawn. Just think, you can be outside all day, no scrubbing the kitchen floor, and it's kind of like drivers ed practice!

haha yeah, almost amanda.. as far as i remember drivers ed never made your hands hurt for 3 days later... for some reason right below my thumbs on both of my hands my muscle things or whatever is there hurts.. probably because i was using all the strength i could get to push down the breaks to turn.. probably mostly on the hill.. i was too scared to go all the way down to the pond in case the bobcat decided to get me..

Gretchen~ Did you see a bobcat or what? I think the thing would skeedaddle from the noise of the mower...

Maybe.

At least that's what I tell myself when I pull in the driveway when it's dark... {that the big critters take off when they hear the ol' bargain cruiser.} So, I'm hoping it's true!

well there was that one thing going around at school a couple years ago that some high schoolers had seen some cat-like thing.. and then mom said she had seen a big cat thing cross the road in front of her one night (our road) and dad said he heard a big scream thing like a bobcat makes one time when he was hunting like last year or something.. soo.. im convinced that one is living around here somewhere..
