One Bowl Brownies

This is my mom's brownie recipe. I think it is the best brownie recipe, hands down. If you like a fudgy, chewy brownie with a fudgy frosting, this is for you!
One Bowl Brownies

Brownies:

2 ½ squares baking chocolate
1 cup shortening
4 eggs
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup nuts (optional)

Melt in bowl in microwave, shortening and chocolate. Put in mixer and add eggs. Beat well. Add sugars. Beat well. Add flour, baking powder, vanilla and salt. Mix well. Add nuts if desired. Bake in greased 9 x 13-inch pan at 350° for 30 minutes.

Frosting:

1 cup sugar
1 square baking chocolate
¼ cup butter
¼ cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla.

Mix sugar, chocolate, butter and milk in small sauce pan. Bring to boil, stirring occasionally. Boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Add vanilla. Set pan in cold water, stirring occasionally until cooled. Beat by hand until glossy and pour over cooled brownies.

Honeymoon Pictures

I'm amazed how grown up and mature I looked at 18! Fred was a whopping 23, though. Really, we must have been much more grown up back then. I have a hard time imagining one of my daughters getting married at that age!

We took a three week honeymoon and drove to Florida. Check out the gas price in the bottom middle picture. If you can't read it, it's .54 cents a gallon. Now that makes me feel old!!!

Danny's Basketball

Danny wanted me to take the camera to his basketball for Special Olympics last night. He wanted me to put him on the blog. So here he is.

The kids do not have school today. I'm hoping to get jobs out of them as tomorrow we have so much going on. I plan to run up to a fabric shop a few towns west of here. Someone told me about it and I looked at their website and it looks pretty promising. I need to find organza or georgette sheer fabric for Kirsten's flower girl dress.

Brady Daniel

I know some of you have seen this on Emily's blog but I had to post these precious picture of our newest grandson as he his getting bigger. Counting the days until he arrives for a visit! Today I made pasty's. I got an early start so I had the last one's on the pans by 11:00. I think I will start making them on Thursdays instead of Fridays. I do a lot of prep work the night before and Thursday nights are always so busy with Danny's basketball and Bible Class. The kids have a four day weekend. Today is the last day of the semester. They have had exams all week.

Flower Girl Dress

Well, I didn't go buy chinet plates but I did cut out Kirsten's dress for Heidi's wedding. Heidi decided to go with the same dress Jeanie wore for Emily's wedding. Kirsten has it right now as a play dress and it fits her perfectly. I will start sewing on Thursday as I still need the sheer overskirt fabric, zipper and thread. Hopefully it will go up with no problems.
