Saturday was our local melon parade. I picked up Lynette's kids. It was a beautiful day for a parade. We got there at 10:00 and staked out our spot with our chairs and blanket. We then walked around for two hours through the arts and crafts booths and then went across to street to the Last Chance Rescue area. They had lots and lots of dogs. Of course the kids wanted to take one home but one dog is enough for this house.

I was surprised that the Shriners weren't there this year. We haven't been to the parade for many years as we are ususally on vacation so I don't know if this was the first year they were missing or not.

the shriners have been missing for 2 or 3 years..I think 3. You see...our lovely board (yes...I have a gripe) decided that the shriners should remove the cowboy/indian portion of their parade for being politically incorrect, or not be in the parade.
the shriners said, fine...they aren't in our parade
stupid board.
The shriners are always so fun. I get nervous when they come flying by with their little yellow cars but the kids love them! They're in the parade in our little town.
Darn. I didn't see anyone that I recognized in the background of your picture. Lol! I always look at the people in the background in Sharyn's pictures too - to see if I recognize any former classmates or coworkers. :)
Looks like fun! I'd love to be there some year the melon fest or the balloon fest.
emily :)
Jen, go on michiganmoms.com and click on the icon on the left that says melon pics. Our kids are on a few and there are about 50 pictures. I didn't recognize anyone but you might.
Mom
Whoa! No way! Pix Number 25 - kid on the far left is our old neighbor boy (from our Duplex). Lol! Crazy. I'm still looking...
That was the only one I recognized. I can't remember his name ~ I only remember his mom and dad's name.
