I was almost done eating my lunch today when I remembered today's challenge. Here are the last two bites. Sauerkraut and smoked sausage. I'm amazed but I absolutely LOVED it. I made it for supper last night for the first time. Actually, I made it for Fred and I. The kids grilled their sausage and put it in a bun. I called my SIL and asked her how she made it. Super easy! I just tossed the rinsed and drained sauerkraut with sliced smoked sausage and a little bit of brown sugar (maybe about 2 tablespoons) and baked it in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes. I started out with tinfoil on top but uncovered it for the last 20 minutes or so. I served it with roasted asparagus and homemade flat bread. It was delicious. I never knew I liked sauerkraut!

Day #16 - What I Ate

Yummy!! That is SO good, we have it a lot at work cuz it's quick and easy, and I love sauerkraut!
Ok, I need to try sauerkraut. It actually doesn't really sound gross, I just haven't actually tried it yet.
I haven't tried it either -- and I've reached a point in my life where I feel like I don't need any more foods to like. But it does look good.
Sauerkraut. Hmm. You tempt me. It's one of those things I think I wouldn't like, but why do people swoon over a Reuben?
yummy picture. makes my mouth water.
i l.o.v.e. "sour"kraut.
nothing like browning sausage in a cast iron pan with onion until they're nice and brown and carmalized and then adding the sourkraut and a little brown sugar.
scrumtious!!
I *love* sauerkraut! That sounds really good.
But if you rinse it, you lose a lot of the healthy probiotics in it...
I assume most has it. (Not sure how much are left in the canned ones.) I know the Bubbies brand I buy in glass jars in the refrigerated/natural foods section has a lot of great cultures in it. And I've been wanting to make my own. I heard it's really easy.
