Family reunion, 1984, at Lac La Belle. What I remember most about this reunion is when Deb K. brought me a limp Amanda. We "rushed" her to Calumet Hospital. Auntie Mia came with us. Her being a nurse and all. I remember that ride being the longest ever. Mia was holding Amanda, who was still listless, in the front. By the time we got there, she was responding a little. They ran some tests and found nothing. The next day she broke out with Roseola. You usually get a high temp for a day or two and then when it's over, you break out in the rash. It was a very hot day and she must have spiked a fever rapidly. She had been by my side and wandered away. She had been fussy but no signs of illness. Deb found her laying on the sand. It was scary and I am so thankful for Mia being there but I do feel bad she missed a lot of the reunion.

This wasn't the reunion that they gave all the awards away at was it? Because I remember that one and I had to have been more than 3 years old.
That popcorn cake sure looks interesting. Are those gumdrops? They look so big. Makes me want to try it again!
And Jen looks like she had thick hair back then?
Yes, it was with the awards. I'm not sure about Jen's thick hair but I'm thinking her and Amy should pull their suits up!!
It is funny how the kids remember the awards. Kelli too mentioned that she remembered the awards and thought it must not have been that reunion since she would have been only 4. I don't remember the awards (presentation) myself other than I see the ones hanging in the sauna at Sedar Bay when we go there.
That was a different reunion. The last one we had I believe. Grandpa had the hairy legs or something. I remember hollering for him to win.
Amy & I (front row, far right) would've won a swimsuit contest, hands down! Or should that be suits down...? Wonder why we even bothered with 'em? ;)
Amanda ~ It wasn't the last reunion that we had (with Vaari). Because I wasn't able to make it to that one, and I remember the hootin' & hollerin' for the awards too. It must've been the one before that.

I remember the awards too, so either they had them at more than one, or it was a later one than this... COnsidering I'm the baby in my mother's arms, I highly doubt I'd remember it from this one!
I have to laugh because after I left the last comment I went back to see the bathing suits on Jen and Amy and noticed that I seemed to be sporting a decent pot-belly too! LOL
I guess my comment didn't post. So here goes again...I remember the awards vividly too. Hairest legs, biggest pot-belly, etc. I remember wondering why they all thought they should get the pot-belly award because surely you shouldn't be proud of that right?! But they were...arguing over it!! LOL
