A Walk Down Memory Lane

We don't have many pictures of our Southfield home. This is one from the kitchen. The stairs came down out of the ceiling. We just pushed them up when not in use. Dad had a little "workshop" in one end and we eventually used the other for a bedroom. I remember when Matt was born and I had to move you, Jen, out of our room and put your crib upstairs. I was heartbroken. You were 17 months and I felt so bad for you to have to sleep upstairs by yourself. Well, the first night I brought you up there for bed, you thought it was the "cats meow"! You stood in your crib, looking around and grinning your head off. You went to sleep with no problem. Phew...you certainly made it easy for me! I can't help but notice in this picture that I am still wearing Dad's old jeans as I couldn't yet fit in mine after your birth. I can tell by the wallet mark on the pocket!
The joys of summer and a simple life. Give the kids a sprinkler and what else do they need? Who needs a swimming pool?!
Our Christmas in the travel trailer while building. That was our Christmas Tree. I made that Raggedy Ann right there on that table. I had to sew when Jennifer was asleep. Gordon & Marilyn's 25th Anniversary party.

I love Ann and Judy's glasses. I have some very similar around here someplace. Everyone looks so young.

I forgot about that bear cookie jar! Whatever happened to it? Wonder if those are the same jeans I used to wear. There was an old pair of dad's jeans (from when you were first married) that I used to wear, along with one of Grandpa H.'s old shirts (which I still have), when I first moved to Minnesota. I loved that outfit.

Who needs a swimming pool? And, who needs a swimming suit that fits? Lol!

There's that little red bell again (behind us). Man, I really hope I can find one someday! I still have Raggedy Ann. But, I only have her apron. I don't know what happened to her dress... And, oh my goodness, Sara's Paul looks JUST LIKE Matt in that picture!! Paul has that same exact expression! And, here I thought he looked so much like Jon! He does, but he also resembles Matt.

Seriously. What is it with Matt, and all of our kids resembling him? Lol! Whatever gene it is, it must be a strong one.

These pictures are so neat. Man, my dad sure was skinny! I never realized that Gony's hair was ever that dark either. Aunt Mary looks just like Annu. Fun to see these, thanks!

p.s. Jennifer & Sara, your swim suits are priceless ;)

I love when you post these old pictures and the story behind them too. I would love to scrapbook some someday so it's awesome to have the story.

You look like a kid holding that baby ;)

I thought the same thing, Em. She looks just like a kid! At 20, She practically was! And, especially, seeing as how we all look so old for our age... ;)

I love all the old pictures. I remember those pull down stairs and thinking they were neat.

That must be grandma H in the bottom picture - her facial expression is so familar, I can see a lot of similarities in some of her kids.
